Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation
Alaska Spine Institute Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation is a fully equipped facility staffed with highly trained Physical Therapists, an Occupational Therapist, physical and occupational therapy assistants, and a team of qualified technicians. As one of the largest physical and occupational therapy clinics in Alaska, we are well-known for our expertise in treating spine (back, neck) and upper and lower extremity conditions. We provide comprehensive physical and occupational therapy services for patients with acute and chronic conditions, work-related injuries, auto injuries, sports injuries, and other personal injuries.
We provide a full range of therapy treatments including passive modalities, such as heat, cold, ultrasound, electrical stimulation treatments, TENS, iontophoresis, fluidotherapy, jobst pump, paraffin bath, and traction. Additionally, soft tissue techniques, in combination with specially designed exercise programs, are utilized to further rehabilitate patients.
An additional program within the Physical Therapy department is our independent Gym Program geared for those individuals who no longer need Physical Therapy several times per week, but need a safe transition from guided treatment to self-management of healthy exercise habits. The Independent Gym Program is a special program to help reinforce positive attitudes toward exercise. The patient has the opportunity to use the ASI Physical Therapy facilities at certain times during the week in a self-managed, goal directed program. This program has been helpful in reinforcing the exercise habits established in treatment or rehabilitation while continuing to build strength and stamina. An independent gym evaluation is conducted before the individual begins the program and goals are set which will be maintained by the patient without the direct supervision of the physical therapy staff. An evaluation may also be completed for those individuals who wish to perform workouts at their private gym.
